Genbaku Shi (1993)
Killed by the Atomic Bomb
58 min | English
Director: Casey G. Williams
Winner of the 1994 Student Academy Award Gold Medal.
Filmmaker Casey Williams accompanies his father on a journey into the past, visiting the aircraft carrier on which he served, interviewing the pilot and crew that dropped the atomic bomb, and speaking with a Japanese survivor.
The father, DuWayne Williams has been haunted by questions ever since he sailed into Nagasaki Harbor shortly after the second atomic bomb was dropped. "Was the bomb necessary?" "So long as there are those of us who remember what that bomb can really do, I don't think we will drop another. But what about the next generation,? What happens then?"
